SteelTeam Signs Long Term Service Deal With Konecranes

Flat Steel Giant Emerging

SteelTeam the Finland based steel service providers have recently signed a long term service agreement with lifting equipment company Konecranes.

Formed in 1987 SteelTeam was originally established to provide hedge portfolio services and was instrumental in providing steel broker services between Finland and the Soviet Union. Since that time the company has progressed significantly through Europe and the Baltic States with a variety of steel activities and services.

In 2007 SteelTeam invested heavily in the construction of the largest flat steel service centre in the Nordic area and as of Autumn 2008 the centre has been in full operation.

The Uusikaupunski Service Centre is a fundamental part of the new service agreement with Konecranes who will be utilising sourcing and pre manufactured steels services from SteelTeam.

The value of the agreement is undisclosed but the establishment of the deal with further cement SteelTeam’s goal to be the largest flat steel provider in northern Europe.

 

Rail Bosses Recognised in New Years Honours

Top Names in Rail to Receive CBE’s

Two top civil engineers and rail industry chiefs have been recognised in the New Years honours list. The new boss of Crossrail, Terry Morgan will receive a CBE for his contributions to public services whilst in his position with the rail firm Tube Lines. Morgan will be taking on the challenging role as Chairman for Crossrail in the summer of 2009 and will head the impressive £16 billion project to deliver the eagerly awaited London city link.

Also inline for a CBE is Rob Holden the man who is credited with delivering the Euro Tunnel and other prestigious rail achievements such as the St Pancreas station restoration project.

Holden is also hotly tipped to be next CEO for Crossrail which would bring the two men together on the same incredible rail project. Britain is currently undergoing a rail revolution with new rail projects such as the ambitious Crossrail scheme running alongside numerous regeneration projects across the length and breadth of the country.

 

Historic Company Celebrates Million Pound Contract

Upsurge in Rail Industry Projects

One of the UK’s oldest and most established rail industry based companies Henry Williams has just completed a one million pound upgrade contract for Scottish and Southern Energy.

Henry Williams which was established way back in 1883 has survived the test of time and is now enjoying the upsurge in rail transport in finding more rail support and service contracts.

Dealing mainly with rail equipment and related industry services the latest contract alone was reported to be worth an estimated £1.4m and involved the improvement of signalling equipment and the foundation work to include the installation of a new multi million pound Flue Gas Desulpherisation project.

Across the UK there has been an upsurge in recent times of many rail industry projects as the Government and commuter organisations start to recognise the importance of rail travel regeneration. With billions currently being pumped into the rail infrastructure it is likely that many rail related companies and industries will once again flourish whilst the economic turmoil of other sectors surrounding it will continue into 2009.

Major Industrial Projects Can Survive Recession

Street Crane managing director Andrew Pimblett is predicting a good year in 2009 despite the gloomy news predicted for business in general across the board in the forth coming year. Laying out his optimistic beliefs for the up and coming year ahead Pimblett is keen for Street Crane to achieve the success it has continued to achieve in previous years.

Every good businessman knows that even in recession some companies will prosper whilst others suffer and it is usually the larger industrial projects that tend to shine through and deliver the goods. Having achieved an successful 2007-2008 financial year Street Cranes now has its books full with heavy lifting gear, hoists and crane orders to the point where they are now completing a three quarters of a million pound extension to their main factory.

Street Cranes has enjoyed success since its foundation back in 1946 and inparticular over the past decade launching a series of industry leading hoists and crane lifting gear and it places the majority of its success down to a number of keys factors including being able to cater for delivering world class products to a global consumer market place, without having to rely solely on the UK market
